The future zoning of the usable land will be 40% for development, 40% where development will be forbidden and 20% where it will be limited.

Industrial development plan

The city will develop 3 large industrial zones which are Songshan Lake Science and Technology zone, West Coast industrial zone and East industrial zone.

Comprehensive transport plan

The city has a highway network which includes 2 horizontal and 4 longitudinal highways and a ring road freeway.

Greenbelt and master landscape design

The construction of the Dongjiang River belt and the mountainous forest landscape belt will be the focus of attention in the future. According to the natural characteristics of the city which see mountains, rivers and plow land come together, an ecological system will be built.

5 large forest parks will be developed, namely Huangqishan, Tongsha, Shuilianshan, Dalingshan and Dapingzhang.

Heritage protection

Dongguan will classify its natural and historical heritage sites located in the urban area into three types: natural scenery, old-town distinctive alleys and other relics. Four protection areas will be established, namely the West City Gate, the Keyuan Garden, the Jin’ao Tower and the unique residential area around Tongde Alley. These protected areas will include the neighboring areas and sceneries as well.
