The Nanshe Village
was established at the end of the Southern Song Period.
Many old buildings from the Ming and Qing Dynasties
can still be seen here. There are 25 ancestral temples
and 100 old residential houses under provincial government
protection. The village houses and temples are arranged
along both sides of the watercourse, their rooftops
cascading over the next one. People come to admire the
ancient style and the abundant old banyan trees. In
the village, beautiful decorations such as stone sculptures,
bricks, woodwork and mud or ceramic ornaments are all
kept in a well preserved state. The architecture of
ancestral alleys, temples, and wells has great historical
and artistic value. It is a tourist destination that
offers exhibitions of relics and recreation, both in
Dongguan and the Pearl River Delta.
